RESOURCE PLANNER III / IV

Salary: $5,209 – 7,644 / Month

Closing Date: Friday, November 21, 2008

THE JOB: Under direction, reviews land development applications for conformance with environmental and general plan policies; conducts resource and environmental planning studies; assists in administering environmental and resource related grant programs and construction projects; and to do other work as required.

Resource Planner III: The current half time vacancy will assist in environmental review and permitting for various flood control projects, maintenance activities and the Army Corps Flood Control Project on the Pajaro River near Watsonville.

Resource Planner IV: The current full time vacancy will be leading the planning, environmental review, permitting, design and eventual construction of a new regional solid waste and recycling facility, locally known as the “Eco Park”. This facility is intended to provide a one stop location for solid waste and recycling activities for the public and commercial haulers, such as recycling, re-use, composting and ultimately transfer of the residual refuse for ultimate disposal elsewhere. The lists established from these recruitments will be used to fill the current and future vacancies during the life of the lists.

THE REQUIREMENTS: Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Resource Planner III: One year of journey level resource planning experience equivalent to a Resource Planner II at Santa Cruz County.

(Resource Planner II’s perform professional environmental and resources planning assignments with limited supervision.)

Resource Planner IV: One year of journey level resource planning experience equivalent to a Resource Planner III at Santa Cruz County.

(Resource Planner III’s are responsible for complex long-range environmental and resource planning studies, analyses or project review in the fields of watershed management, water quality, water resources, solid waste management, geology, flood control, erosion control or related disciplines.)
